Train to Pakistan by Khushwant Singh showcases the lives of common people during the India-Pakistan partition. Excerpt from the book:- " Muslims said the Hindus had planned and started the killing. My view on the book: Before reading this book, I have read few years ago, that, during India-Pakistan partition, millions of people lost their lives while going to their 'respective countries'. The story of this book revolves around a village named Mano Majra and the people in it. This book was a good reading experience. It showcases how religion divided people. One could see how deep the clutches of religion are embedded in our society. The main characters as per me are Iqbal singh who comes to the village with a noble cause.
